Afghan and Ukrainian stories from exile
In July 2022, Williams College sponsored a summer research program
documenting the lives of Afghan and Ukrainian refugees living in Europe.
Students from Williams worked with Afghan students from the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) and Ukrainian students from Central European University.
The Afghan students are now refugees living in different European cities.
The Ukrainian students left their country to study but now cannot return home.
They too are now refugees.
After a week of training, the students were divided into seven teams and sent to seven different countries where they spent two weeks meeting, observing, and interviewing refugees displaced by war.
The In Flight film is a partial record of what they saw, what they heard,
and what they experienced.
